TRAIN YOUR MIND, CHANGE YOUR LIFE
Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)
for the Treatment of Anxiety, Depression and Emotional Distress
In this class we develop skills to identify triggers – thoughts, bodily sensations and emotions that can lead to painful mood states. By examining the nature of habitual thinking and our specific responses to these automatic "mental formations" we can begin to untangle
the relapse process.
Meditation practice offers us the opportunity to begin to experience the present moment as it actually unfolds, witnessing the nature of mind and the impermanence of all emotion. Seeing into reality in this way reveals a sturdiness and resilience we can build on.
As we hold the range of emotions in awareness, recognizing that mood states arise and fall away quite naturally, we become less reactive and more able to soothe ourselves.
The MBCT class consists of 8 weekly, 2 hour classes
There is a day-long retreat offered between class 6 and 7
Each class consists of guided meditation, gentle movement and class discussion
A daily meditation practice is the foundation of this class.
In general, the more time invested in practice, the better the outcome.
